March 1st...can we officially start the countdown till Spring/Summer?
I ask this as I look out my window at snow falling. I'm pretty much over this weather and bundling up. As someone who's always on the go, I don't like worrying about coats, hats and boots. The countdown to warmer weather also means bathing suit season. I can't say I'm particularly thrilled about this but know my husband and I have been working our butts off. We both love a good burger so I decided to try out my version of a turkey burger. Turkey is a great source of protein and low in fat. I started with a 'pin' as inspiration but added my own twist.
They turned out so yummy that I had to hold myself back. Instead of all the fixings, I topped mine with fresh spinach, tomato and a slice of fresh mozzarella. The flavors in the actual burger were enough but next time I'll experiment with different spices.
Have a happy, healthy weekend.

My Results:
1/2
pound Organic Ground Turkey
(organic not necessary)
Garlic for roasting
Olive Oil
Sea Salt (freshly ground)
Black Pepper (freshly ground)Toppings such as fresh spinach, low fat cheese, tomatoes, onions1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. 2. Peel away the outer layers of the garlic bulb skin, leaving
the skins of the individual cloves intact. 3. Using a knife, cut off 1/4 to
a 1/2 inch of the top of cloves, exposing the individual cloves of
garlic.
4. Place the garlic heads in a baking pan and drizzle a couple teaspoons of olive oil over each
head, using your fingers to make sure the garlic head is well coated.
5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the
cloves feel soft when pressed.
6. While garlic is baking, add the turkey, bread crumbs, salt and pepper together.
7. Once the garlic is done and warm, squeeze it out of the bulb and into the meat mixture.
8. Use your hands to combine and form into patties. I left some larger garlic pieces but you could mince it.
9. Spray frying pan and cook patties on medium high flipping halfway. The internal temperature for a turkey burger should be 165 degrees.
10. Rub any extra garlic to the bun and dress with the condiments and toppings of your choice.
YUM!!! I love turkey burgers and the added garlic sounds wonderful!
