I'm starting to gear up for Valentine's Day. There are so many great inspirational 'pins' but I just haven't gotten myself in gear. Two days ago, I finally completed my first V-Day pin and I {LOVE} it! I have never cross stitched but the pattern I made was pretty simple. I wanted to do a cross stitch canvas for Christmas but shied away because it seemed too intimidating.
I decided I had all the materials and I needed a craft to do as my husband and I caught up on Homeland. BTW...I'm addicted to the show and blame it for not linking up to as many parties as usual :) If the result looks daunting, trust me...you can do it!

Canvas
Graph Paper
Embrodery Floss
Needle
Tape
1. Sketch out your design. I kept mine pretty simple since this was my first cross stitch.
2. Measured and cute the graph paper to size and taped it to the inside of the canvas.
3. Using a needle, poke holes at all the corners where you'll stitch. I found the holes look better when you poke from the back of the canvas.
4. Pick out your embroidery thread and split it so it's not too thick.
5. Thread your needle and tie and knot on the end.
6. Start stitching.
7. When the pattern is complete, either hot glue the string to the canvas or tape it down. Remember no one will see the back.
8. Display and enjoy the compliments.
