Our Family Garden

Ahh Monday...so glad to see you.  I have my coffee in hand and my camera uploading photos so I can edit them.  A perfect morning after a not so perfect night.  My almost 4 year old had her adenoids out last week and to say it's been a pleasant recovery is far from the truth.  Last night she was up ever hour crying about a sore throat and stuffy nose.  Needless to say, my husband and I are both zombies this morning.  Luckily,  after the busy weekend we had, my girls are content playing and doing their own thing with relieves me from feeling guilt that I'm stuck to the computer when I should be focusing on them.

Last night we had some friends over for a great dinner cooked by my husband.  It was the first dinner where we were able to use vegetables from the garden he's been working on since Spring.  My husband wasn't raised with gardens so it's pretty impressive how quickly he's taken to it.  Not only are we getting crops but it's beautiful...too beautiful and impressive not to share.

This is the outline of the 2 oddly shaped gardens the previous owner left.

My husband and I decided to combine the two gardens and pull the garden out from under the trees.

Relaying the bricks. Yes...those are retaining wall bricks. I'd say we moved over 400 of them.

The finished product before planting.

Planting with the girls.  There is no better lesson on nature than planting seeds and watching them grow into the produce you eat.

We can't wait for the corn, squash, cucumbers and other yummy vegi's to come in.  That's if the deer and rabbits don't get to them first.

  1. oh I want a garden that wonderful!! I can't wait until we're in a house with size! I feel you on the adenoids. My son got them out when he was only 2. It did help, but the recovery was awful.
