Mod Podge Artwork 1

A couple of weeks ago I showed you a chair I made over for our guest bedroom.  I'm finally getting around to posting two pieces of art I made for the room.  Since I didn't want to buy new art (didn't want to spend $$ on the room), I decided to make my own.  I love making little pieces of artwork.  First of all they take less time which is key and you can make a couple of different coordinating ones for a room.  I knew wanted to keep the vintage cottage look and incorporate the lace I put onto the chair- this was it.  Since I didn't follow a 'pin' for these projects the world was my canvas- pardon the pun! The first piece I'll show you is the one with coordinating paper.

My Results:
8x10 flat canvases
Modge Podge
Paint of your choice
Decorative paper of your choice (I used three coordinating patterned papers)
Paint brush
Stencils

1.Paint the base of your canvases and let dry.

2. Trace the shapes/images/words you want on your artwork. I used premade stencils but also made my own. To make your own stencil, print out an image you like and cut the border with an exacto knife.

3. Cut out the shapes/images/words. I decided on a bird, flowers and strips of the coordinating papers.

4. Layout out your cut images on the canvas before gluing them down.

 5. Once you've found a layout you like, glue the paper to the canvas.  Let dry.

 6. When your images have dried to the canvas, apply a thick coat of Mod Podge. Let Dry.

7. I wanted to add some wording so after the Mod Podge dried, I stenciled on the word Happy which I was with my little piece of artwork.
